Well, this has been tough, right? Whilst things seem to have relaxed a little recently, the safety of our participants and staff is our highest priority. Above Your Nerve is closely monitoring the developments of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and will continue to follow local authority and government guidelines, as well as the advice and procedures of the venues that we use for courses, workshops and showcases.
From 19th July 2021 most of the legal restrictions on workshops and shows were removed. As such, Above Your Nerve is currently open for business and all workshops and showcases will continue to operate as scheduled, unless further restrictions are introduced.
We understand that many of us may still have some concerns regarding COVID-19. It’s also clear that the wider situation may change, so we are keeping some safety measures in place, so we can feel comfortable in the in-person sessions and also be flexible to the changing protocols.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
Attendance
If you have symptoms, or test positive for COVID-19, please do not come to the in-person workshops, or showcases. Check government guidelines for isolating etc, before rejoining.
Lateral Flow Testing
We suggest that participants do regular lateral flow tests, especially if they are showing symptoms, to ensure the safety of the group and any vulnerable people in close contact with staff or participants. We ask that participants do not attend in-person workshops if they receive a positive test. Above Your Nerve will endeavour to have a supply of tests, (subject to availability) for occasions when participants are unable to provide their own. Please contact Gemma, to arrange to meet before a session, to use one of these tests.
As a reminder, the current list of the main COVID-19 symptoms is as follows:
Face Coverings
As per the most recent government guidelines for performing arts, (Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport) you don’t have to wear a face covering during the workshops, however we may ask participants to keep their face coverings on, to ensure the safety and comfort of the group. We ask that participants follow the procedures of the venues we use, and wear face coverings in shared common areas, if asked.
Hands & Equipment
We will provide hand sanitisers or antibacterial wipes for participants, to use throughout the sessions. All equipment (mics, mic stands, etc) will be disinfected and cleaned regularly.
Adequate Space and Ventilation
We will work with the venues we use, to ensure there is enough space for participants to be socially distanced from one another, during the workshops.
What happens if we cannot meet in person
If, once a course has started, the UK enters a lockdown and we cannot meet in person, we will move the sessions online, using Zoom. If this period of time covers the showcase, we will have an online showcase. We will also endeavour to arrange an in-person showcase (with additional rehearsal sessions) once the restrictions are removed, at no extra cost to participants.
Covid cancellations
If we have to cancel a course, due to COVID-19 and it is not possible to move the course online, participants will receive a refund for the cancelled sessions. If the course continues online, but an individual is unable to make the online sessions, we will be unable to offer a refund, however, that participant will be able to join a future in-person course
Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to modify this COVID-19 at any time. If we decide to change our COVID-19 Policy, we will post those changes here and to any other places we deem appropriate, so that you remain updated.
